Our story
At Green Salad Girl, we believe that great food begins long before it reaches the plate. It starts in the soil, is nurtured by the water, guided by nature, and ultimately crafted with care into an elevated culinary experience that delights the senses and nourishes the body.
Founded by Allison Michele Rodgers, Green Salad Girl combines a lifelong passion for hospitality, health, creativity, and sustainable living. While many know Allison from her background in musical theater, education, and the arts, her love for food and entertaining has been a lifelong journey. She trained in fine dining service at Cipriani in New York City, where she learned the art of elegant French-style service and the attention to detail required to create unforgettable dining experiences. She also learned from members of the original Jimmy John's franchise team, gaining an appreciation for fresh ingredients, gourmet flavors, and the customer experience that keeps people coming back.
Today, those influences come together in every Green Salad Girl salad, microgreen blend, dressing, and catered event. Our goal is simple: create vibrant, nutrient-rich foods that are as beautiful as they are delicious.
Behind the scenes is co-owner Joe Green, the landowner and steward of the property where Green Salad Girl grows. Joe earned his degree in Horticulture from University of Florida and has spent a lifetime understanding how healthy plants begin with healthy ecosystems.
There is a certain irony in the story—Allison, a lifelong plant lover, fell in love with a horticulturalist whose last name happened to be Green.
Joe is truly a man of the land. He has lived on this Fruit Cove property his entire life and has witnessed generations of agricultural history along the St. Johns River. The area known today as Fruit Cove earned its name from the citrus groves, fruit orchards, and agricultural homesteads that once flourished throughout the region. Long before suburban development arrived, the fertile soil and favorable climate made Fruit Cove one of Northeast Florida's productive growing communities.
Continuing that tradition, Joe installed the artisan well that supplies the property and carefully developed the growing areas using premium soil sourced from longtime family friends at Williams Nursery in Jacksonville. The combination of historic agricultural land, mineral-rich well water, abundant Florida sunshine, and nutrient-dense soil creates an ideal environment for growing exceptional greens, herbs, and microgreens.
Green Salad Girl is built on the belief that nutritious food should be accessible, flavorful, and exciting. We are passionate about helping people of all ages enjoy the benefits of fresh greens, microgreens, herbs, and vegetables packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and vibrant flavor.
Our gardens are cultivated with sustainability in mind, honoring the land while producing ingredients that support healthy lifestyles and meaningful gatherings around the table.

Joe contributes decades of horticultural knowledge, land stewardship, and growing expertise. Together, they blend artistry and agriculture to create food experiences that are memorable, nourishing, and full of life.
